Former Mountaineer standout Gene Corum rebounded from the only winless season in school history to win eight games in 1962 and lead the Mountaineers to a seven-win season in 1964 that included an appearance in the Liberty Bowl to face Utah. Corum also posted a winning record during his final season at the helm in 1965.
